About Khacholing Center
Khacholing Center is part of the worldwide community of practitioners of the teachings of Buddha Gautama. Khacholing Center follows the Gelugpa Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism as founded by the Great 14th Century Scholar and Saint, Je Tsongkhapa.
Mission: We are dedicated to teaching and preserving the Dharma of the Buddha, and in the true spirit of Boddhichitta, to providing compassionate aid to those in need. Khacholing Center is a Non-Profit Charitable Organization, which is Tax Exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. Khacholing Center is also classified as a Public Charity under sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(a) of the IRS code. The administrative headquarters of Khacholing Center is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A second center was established in New York, New York n 2009, and operates under the by-laws and oversight of the parent organization.
Khacholing Center was established in 1997 by Tim Nelson, in Fairbault, Minnesota, with the intent of providing a means to support Tibetan nuns. Through his sponsorship, a number of Tibetan Buddhist Nuns from India were able to come to the US and conduct religious activities in the State of Minnesota and in other parts of the United States.
