Drupa Rinpoche Lobsang Yeshi who is 7th in the lineage of Drupa Rinpoches, is the head of Drupa Monastery in Kham, Eastern Tibet. The present Drupa Rinpoche was born in India and recognized by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in the year of 1988 as the reincarnation of 6th Drupa Rinpoche Shedrup Tenpai Gyaltsen.

Drupa Rinpoche joined Drepung Loselling Monastery in 1988 and completed his monastic studies by receiving his Geshe degree in 2005. Rinpoche is tri-lingual (Tibetan, English and Hindi) which enabled him to successfully pursue a Bachelor in Psychology (Hons) degree from HELP University, Malaysia and thereafter, a Master of Science in Positive Psychology (MSPP) from Life University, GA, USA. Rinpoche presented his research paper titled “Are materialism and spirituality two sides of the happiness coin? A mixed-methods study” at the 31st International Congress of Psychology (ICP), Yokohama, Japan. Rinpoche has been inducted as a member of Psy Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.

Whilst living in the Monastery, Rinpoche served as Ling Khangtsen’s “chi-gen”that is the managing lama for over 14 years overseeing the welfare of that monk community. He co-led the development of the monastery’s medical services from a small dispensary to the Loselling Altruistic Medical Association’s medical facility which now provides medical services to its 3000 monks and the surrounding local lay community. Rinpoche’s organizational experience included organizing a Mystical Arts Tour to Malaysia in relation to the construction of monastery’s new prayer hall and the setting up of a new accounting system to help the monastery’s tax issues in India.

Apart from Rinpoche’s principal interest in presenting the teachings of Buddha, his academic background in psychology has fueled an interest to work with young adults to optimize their potential. Rinpoche continues to provide personal and spiritual advice, give public talks on Buddhism, as well as perform Buddhist religious rites.

Drupa Rinpoche is available for consultation and counseling on Mondays – Saturdays. To arrange a time to speak with him, please feel free to contact him at: lobsyeshi007@gmail.com
